Welcome to Ocean Valley Dental!

Choosing a dentist is less like picking a service and more like choosing a relationship. Ocean Valley Dental has built that kind of practice since 1990, one where the same hygienists have worked alongside Dr. Robert F. Murray, DDS for over twenty years, and where patients from Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, and Laguna Niguel return year after year because they genuinely trust the team. That trust is earned through honest dental care, not sales tactics.

Our Mission

Each morning before patients arrive, the team recites it together: “We are a family practice and we build long-term relationships by providing excellent service with empathy, compassion, and respect.” The treatment philosophy that follows is straightforward. Separate what needs attention from what can wait, explain findings clearly, and let patients make informed decisions. Oral health improves when patients understand it, and that is the standard every appointment is held to.

Dentist Aliso Viejo

Providing World Class Dentistry in South Orange County

At Ocean Valley Dental, your trusted dentist in Aliso Viejo, we offer a comprehensive range of dental services to meet the needs of your entire family.

Implants

Bone loss is one of the least-talked-about consequences of missing teeth, and at Ocean Valley Dental, our titanium implants address it directly by fusing with your jaw to halt that deterioration. Even patients who’ve struggled with ill-fitting dentures due to poor ridges or gagging find implants a genuinely comfortable fit. As your Laguna Hills dentist, we restore a smile that chews, speaks, and feels completely natural.

We map your bone structure carefully before placing anything, then place the titanium post chairside in about an hour. Your jaw bonds with the implant naturally during a healing period before we attach your final restoration. Best of all, no neighboring teeth need to be trimmed or altered to make it work.

Veneers

Thin, custom-made porcelain shells can quietly correct a surprising range of concerns without the need for orthodontics or more invasive work. Each veneer is shaped to fit your individual tooth and smile line, so the result feels proportionate rather than artificial. Our Laguna Hills dentist works closely with you from the start to make sure the final color and contour genuinely suit your face.

The veneers process at Ocean Valley Dental spans two appointments, with temporary shells placed in between so you’re never without a complete smile. We remove only a minimal sliver of enamel to prepare each tooth, keeping your natural structure largely intact. When your permanent veneers arrive, bonding them into place is quick, and you leave that same day with a finished result.

Invisalign & Orthodontics

Straight teeth aren’t just a cosmetic goal — proper alignment reduces jaw strain, makes crowded surfaces easier to clean, and helps your bite distribute pressure evenly across your teeth. As a Laguna Hills dentist, Ocean Valley Dental offers both Invisalign clear aligners and traditional orthodontic options, so your treatment matches your specific bite needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether your case is straightforward or more complex, we have a path that fits your life.

Our invisalign & orthodontics process starts with a full assessment of your bite, spacing, and jaw relationship before any treatment is recommended. Clear aligner trays are swapped out on a regular schedule, each one continuing the gradual shift toward your final position. For patients whose movement requires more precision, traditional orthodontic solutions are available as well.

Crowns

Some teeth reach a point where a filling simply can’t do enough. The remaining structure is too limited, too weakened, or too compromised to hold up without full coverage. A crown wraps the entire visible portion of the tooth, protecting it from fracture while restoring its shape and function. At Ocean Valley Dental, porcelain and ceramic materials are matched to your surrounding teeth, so your restored tooth looks like it belongs rather than stands out.

Our Laguna Hills dentist reviews each case carefully to determine whether crowns are the right fit, since the same restoration serves multiple purposes: shielding a tooth after a large filling is lost, covering one that’s discolored or poorly shaped, or completing an implant with a natural-looking cap on top. We take a precise digital impression to guide fabrication and ensure your bite feels balanced once the crown is seated. The result is a restoration that holds up through daily use while keeping the rest of your smile intact.

Oral Surgery & Extractions

Keeping a tooth is always the goal, but when infection, fracture, or impaction makes that impossible, timely removal protects everything around it. Crowding that affects your bite, wisdom teeth pressing against neighboring roots, and teeth too damaged to restore are all situations where oral surgery & extractions become the healthiest path forward. We take a conservative approach, recommending removal only when it genuinely serves your long-term oral health.

At Ocean Valley Dental, every surgical case is planned individually before anything begins, so the procedure itself is focused and efficient. We make sure you understand each step ahead of time and that you leave with clear recovery instructions tailored to your specific situation. Our Laguna Hills dentist stays available through follow-up visits to monitor healing and address any concerns along the way.

Root Canal Therapy

A tooth with a deep infection doesn’t always announce itself with dramatic pain. Sometimes it shows up as lingering sensitivity, pressure when biting, or mild swelling that gradually worsens. Root canal therapy addresses the source directly by removing the damaged pulp, disinfecting the inner canals, and sealing the tooth so the infection cannot return. Our Laguna Hills dentist prioritizes saving the natural tooth whenever possible, since no replacement fully replicates what your own tooth provides.

The procedure at Ocean Valley Dental is handled with complete anesthesia from the very first step, so most patients find it far more manageable than they anticipated. We clean and seal the canals carefully, and once the tooth has healed, a crown is typically placed to restore its full biting strength. Most cases wrap up in one or two appointments, after which the tooth functions normally alongside the rest of your smile.

Meet the Team

Dr. Murray’s undergraduate degree in Organic Chemistry from UCLA shapes how he approaches diagnosis, methodically, with attention to what the data actually shows. Staff describe someone who does not tire of procedures, holds each result to a higher standard than the last, and treats every patient as an individual. Dr. Le brings her own distinct background: she grew up in Sacramento in a family where dentistry was the household profession, her father and both brothers are in the field. Outside the office, she hikes, dances ballet, and travels with her husband and their dog, Oakley. Both providers share the same patient-first approach that has defined this dental family practice for over thirty years.

Story of the “Coral”

Coral is not a plant but a living animal. Its function is to house, feed and provide security to 90% of the fish in the ocean. These tiny creatures are among the world’s greatest architects, and although they grow less than an inch per year, they ultimately become one of the largest structures on the planet. We take our mission statement seriously and understand that earning your trust takes time, empathy and compassion. Over time, we hope to create the safe environment that you turn to for all of your dental needs.

FAQs

How does Dr. Murray decide what to recommend at an appointment?

He tells you what he sees and lets you decide with full information. If a tooth can be monitored rather than treated, he will say so and document it for future visits. Staff describe a dentist who educates without pressure. Patients coming from high-production offices often note that the absence of a lengthy treatment list at the end of their first dental exam is the first thing they notice.

What does the in-house fabrication capability change for patients?

It removes the two-appointment model that still defines most crown placements. Digital scanning and in-house 3D printing keep the entire process under direct quality control, no outside lab, no temporary dental crowns, no waiting. Adjustments happen immediately if fit or bite requires it. For patients familiar with the traditional process, the difference in time and hassle is significant.

How does LANAP differ from traditional gum treatment?

LANAP uses a specific laser wavelength that removes diseased tissue without cutting or suturing healthy tissue. Traditional periodontal surgery involves incisions and a longer healing period. The laser approach reduces bleeding, minimizes post-procedure swelling, and produces a faster recovery. Dr. Murray performs this in-office, no referral to a periodontist required.

Is this practice a good fit for families with different dental needs?

Dental services available here cover pediatric dental care, adult restorative work, cosmetic dentistry, and surgical procedures, so family members with different needs do not require different practices. Five hygienists on staff means scheduling flexibility that a smaller team cannot offer, including coordinated family appointment blocks. Multi-generational oral health care has been a defining feature of this practice for decades.

How does the practice handle patients who have avoided dental care for a long time?

Gap patients are a regular part of this practice. The first step is a thorough dental exam that establishes a current baseline with no judgment about what came before. Dr. Murray sequences any recommended dental treatment in a way that is manageable rather than overwhelming, and sedation dentistry options are available for patients who need them. The goal of the first visit is a clear, honest picture of where things stand and what the path forward looks like.
